We’re a couple friends who’ve been turning scraps into compost together since 2023.

Now we’re ready to grow to give the community somewhere for food scraps and yard waste to go that doesn’t get buried in the landfill or burned in a brush pile. We hope to soon have a convenient place in or near town for folks to bring their scraps and yard debris to us, so we can make wood chips and compost all in one location. But for now, we’re happy to pick it up where it happens and make it into compost magic where we can.

We are what happens when a waste professional and a lifelong farmer become friends.

How can I contribute to Homer Compost?

You can contribute by signing up on the website for pickup service or drop off service. Or, you can simply reach out to buy some of our compost!

What can I compost?

For now, we are launching with just food scraps buckets. Soon, we’ll offer a cover materials drop offs point that will include leaves, moss, wood chips, grass clippings, and manure. We may have a limited ability to receive or pickup these materials in the meantime; feel free to email us to ask!

How do I start getting pickups?

To become part of our pickup route, first sign up here on our website. We will reach out to you, establish a pickup day, and sell you the bucket and compostable bucket liners you need to get started. The idea is that you will get 1 pickup of 1 x 5 gallon bucket of scraps per week. You’ll put the bucket on the curb on your allocated pickup day by 8am, and we will come by to dump it out. We will require pickup buckets to have bucket liners. You will be responsible for cleaning your own bucket.

Is there a fee for pickups?

Yes, we charge for both pickups and (coming soon!) drop offs. It takes time and energy to make this happen, and we need to cover costs.

What does it cost and how do I pay?

Drop offs are $16/month. Curbside pickup is $30/month. Once you sign up for pickup service, we will send you an email to set you up for automatic monthly billing. For drop offs service, if you’re not already signed up, you will be able to pay with the QR code at the drop off location.
